My profile

Mikiko Shimabukuro

Director/Ph.D.

Mikiko Shimabukuro

I graduated from Kindai University in 1996. I obtained my medical degree in 2021 and have been working as a ophthalomologist for about 27 years. I am a board-certified ophthalomologist in the Japanese Ophthalmological Society.

I have been involved in the medical treatment of ophthalmological diseases in general and various issues related to cataract surgery, which accounts for approximately 85% of ophthalmic surgeries. I have been working on analysis of dry eye after cataract surgery.

As I became interested in the way people see through cataracts, which increase with age, I came to realize that it is important to protect the health of the eyes in an era where everyone from children to the elderly can live for 100 years. To this end, we will strive to contribute to the local community by providing routine preventive care and early detection of disease, and by protecting the eye health of everyone in the neighborhood. If you have any concerns about your eye symptoms, please feel free to contact us.

After graduating from Kindai University School of Medicine and studying at Osaka University Hospital, I have been practicing medicine at a general hospital in the Kansai region. I originally specialized in corneas, and while involved in various cases, and while involved in various cases, I have also performed many cataract surgeries, focusing on diseases in the corneal and conjunctival region, analyzing physiological functions and cataract surgery cases with astigmatism, and examining dry eye after cataract surgery. Dry eyes can also affect the way you see, making your vision blurry or dazzling. As I cared for post-surgery patients, I became more interested in how people see, and I wanted to help people of all ages, from children to the elderly, keep their eyes healthy.
